Island Beskid: Glisne pass > Lubon Wielki
For my first, post-COVID spring walk, and thus also to check how fit I am, I chose the trail from the Glisne Pass to Lubon Wielki peak near Krakow. Since the journey from Krakow to this area takes only a few dozen minutes, and reaching the peak takes just over an hour, first I was able to get enough sleep, wait until the morning traffic jams were over and drink my favorite coffee. What a perfect start to a one-day vacation!
The trail leading to Lubon Wielki turned out to be more difficult for me than I thought. I wasn't really fit at all, and the second part of the climb is quite steep and required me to use all four limbs ocasionally. Getting to the top, however, compensated for the effort. There are several benches at the top, I was able to lay down in the sun and admire the view of the pass while listening to the birds sing. Up there, however, the flora cannot keep up with the fauna. I only managed to hunt the first signs of spring in the form of buds at the bottom. Maybe it is not strange, since the highest part of the trail is still covered with snow? With the 6th photo, however, I can officially confirm: spring has finally arrived (although, as I mentioned earlier, it has not yet climbed up ;)
The mountain shelter building at first photo deserves special attention. The plan of the building is based on a square, and the room on the first floor offers views of the four sides of the world.
The trail map is here. The length of the route is 4.4 km, total ascent is 391 m, my step count was 9000+. The photos are marked with GPS coordinates.
