Beskid Wyspowy: Mount Modyn
Our trip to Mount Modyn began with getting lost on local roads. Before setting off, I hadn’t checked where to park the car thoroughly. Nearby destination, since there was poor mobile phone reception in the area, we couldn’t rely on an online hiking map. Due to our late departure and navigation troubles on the trail, we ended up starting around 1:00 PM. I don’t recommend arriving so tardy to the mountains!
From that day trail, we’ll also remember our encounter with a young bull. The bull blocked one of the shortcuts we wanted to take to complete a full loop without retracing our steps. It stood in the middle of a dirt road, between two clearings fenced off with an electric fence. We wondered if we could pass by him. However, the longer we looked at him, the more attentively he was observing us. We truly had no safe way to get around him at a distance. Ultimately, not wanting to risk it, we turned back to find another path. Now I wonder if young bulls are truly dangerous? We didn’t have anything red with us, but hey, young bull is still a bull…
